Old Habit Die-hard

“Penyapu Lidi”, or lidi broom is made from spines of palm leave normally from a coconut leave spines. Nowadays most user prefer oil palm leave spines, not just for its availability but also because of its flexibility, that won’t easily breaks. Lidi broom might not be common to the town dwellers but it is to the villagers. My brothers and sisters who live in town do not use lidi broom but I do, maybe because I’m living in an oil palm estate.

I prefer the lidi broom to be used on the carpeted floor rather than the vacuum cleaner which I use few times a year only for spring cleaning, even though electricity power is supplied free of charge. I use lidi broom everyday because it is handy and because I am already used to it since my mother’s time. I even have the habit of keeping the lidi broom behind the door of my bedroom liked my mother used to, but behind the kitchen door… no reason at all, just a habit.

Lidi broom has been used for many decades by my great grandmother and I presume it will continue be use by my great great grand-daughter.

My New Talkative Neighbors

 I moved to this neighborhood on 1st September 2005, which I didn’t choose to but have to because my employer instructed me to. I love the house because it’s beautiful and it was built mainly for me. But its very quiet here makes me often miss my old neighborhood. It looks like everybody here is very busy that they don’t have time for anything else but work. We only greet one another with a smile from apart. Imagine doing just that for more than two years.

Suddenly today, the quiet environment does not bother me anymore; now that I have found new neighbors here called the bloggers. Suddenly today, I wanted so much to re-furbish my house, the website, for my new neighbors to appreciate, hoping that they will come to visit me often.

My dear neighbors, the bloggers, please don’t mind me knocking at your door anytime for a chit-chat. I’ll do just a light tap at your door using the tangan-tangan which I’m sure won’t distract you from your routine. My dear neighbors the bloggers, I want you to know that I realy love this neighborhood.

So, “WHAT SAY YOU”, I mean my new layout, designed by the one and only forevertulip.
