De-stress Our Life

Stress is a reaction to a physical, mental, or emotional stimulus that upsets the body’s natural balance.  Stress is unavoidable, it can be positive or negative, and it can be physical or psychological.

Stress can cause fatigue, chronic headache, irritability, changes in appetite, memory loss, low self esteem, withdrawal, tooth-grinding, cold hands, high blood pressure, shallow breeding, nervous twitches, insomnia, gastro-intestinal disorders and many more lifestyle diseases.

Do you have stress in your life?  I think all do at one time or another.  There are many ways to de-stress ourselves and the following are suggestions that have worked on me.  I gained this from my reading:-

a)      Don’t sit to long behind the desk, get up to walk around or do some stretching.

b)      Close the eyes for 10 minutes and think of the blue sky or the love one.

c)      Eat healthy dessert of low fat yoghurt and fruits.

d)     Have a hearty laugh at least once a day and take things lightly.

e)      Relax and unwind after work by taking a relaxing bath.

f)       Join some fun activities like a dancing and singing.

g)      Take a relaxing stroll with the children.

Do you know that in order to have a vibrant healthy body we need to de-stress our life!!!

Brylcreem For Everybody

BANGUN!! BANGUN!!, our mother’s voice distracting us from our sleep.  It was only 5.00 in the morning but already we had to leave the bed to get ready for school.   Mum had to go to work but before leaving she had to make sure we were prepared.  Mum had to help us (2 of us) braid our long hair as short hair were never allowed to the girls in my family; father’s rule that was and was broken only after we got married… MERDEKA!!!

Mum dabbed a little Baby Johnson powder to our face and applied Brylcreem (hair cream of mum’s choice) on my 3 brothers’ head, a MUST whether we liked it or not; TIDYING not just STYLING.   Mum would never let us did it ourselves.  “Just wasting, applying more than needed”, she said.  Mum was very cautious of the usage, she made sure 1 large size packed to be use for one month otherwise until mum and dad’s next pay… of course lah, those days were hard days for them.  Feeling zest, smelling fresh with just the Baby Johnson powder and Brylcreem, off we went to school.

No more Brylcreem in the house though, as brothers have left and having their own family,  but where ever I went and by any chance smelled the fragrance of the Brylcreem “Nostalgia struck me”…. I longed for the old days, and the smell of Brylcreem on brothers’ hair lingers on.
