Beat The PMS

A MISUNDERSTOOD MODERN MALADY

Not long ago, no one has heard of it and even when the condition known as Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) was officially identified, skeptics dismissed it as a fashionable ailment and many still remain unconvinced of its seriousness.

 

Today PMS is very real and is now a recognized medical complaint.  PMS is an endocrine disorder caused by the lack of the progesterone hormones and it refers to changes a woman experiences each month before her period.

 

1)         Basic symptoms associated with PMS:-

Hydration & Body Bloat - Water retention, abdominal bloating and breast swelling.

Sweet Craving - Tendency to eat sweet food like chocolates and aerated drinks.

Fatigue & Migraines - Tiredness, headache and shakiness.

Low Morale - Depression, irritability and moodiness

 

2)         Simple remedies that can alleviate its agony and prevention of PMS:-

Reduce intake of sugar especially cakes, sweets, chocolate and aerated drinks.

Limit intake of dairy products and avoid fried and fatty foods.

Increase consumption of whole-grain products like oats, lentils and beans.

Cut down tea, coffee and alcohol but instead drink more herbal teas.

Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables, fish and poultry but cut down red meat.

Limit salt intake, avoid pre-salted potato chips, pretzels and pickles.

Exercise regularly; take up jogging, swimming or yoga.

 

I gathered these few symptoms from my experience and the remedies from my reading; and of course there are more.

    If I’m PMSing memang bikin takut! I cannot stop eating chocolate for 1 week..then 4-5 days before Aunt Flo, mesti bloated perut, pastu pimples kuar!! Arghhh..terus makin tension! hahaha

    Same here, and i thirst for coca cola also… :cry: :mad: :sad:

    Yep, I’m one of those who has a bad case of craving a week before ‘Mr.P’ comes aboard :mad: But the remedy is not to eat sweet stuff kan… Aaargh! Susah oo, when the craving attack comes you just gotta eat what u wanna eat :shock:

    Remedies??? Who ever wants to follow those ya, i rather see the Singsang (Chinese traditional doctor) and just crave. :lol:

    Apa lagi if we have to go to work, jumpa stress di tempat kerja.. macam mau bunuh diri terus…:lol:
