Natural Home Remedy For Common Cold


A cold is an extremely annoying condition. The major symptoms of cold are running nose, heaviness of the head, feverishness, loss of appetite and pain in the body. To get some relief from this irritating condition, there are several natural remedies for cold. The one among them is inhalation of steam.

 

Inhalation of salt-water vapor (steam) is an infallible remedy for cold. It is also beneficial in all types of disorders of the respiratory system. The fomentation caused by the steam is useful in curing pimples on the face, and relieves cough and asthma.

 

Method of inhalation of steam

 

1. Place the salt-water pot on a stove. When the water comes to a boil, place the salt-water pot on the floor and sit down beside it. You should be wearing the minimum possible clothing.

 

2. Cover your body and pot with a blanket like a tent. Keep your eyes closed and inhale the steam deeply. Lean over the pot so as to let the vapor warm your face, the inside of the mouth, the nasal passage, and even the chest.

 

3. There will be profuse perspiration in 5 or 7 minutes.  Afterward wipe the parts that have been exposed to the steam with a piece of cloth wrung in cold water.

 

Those who are suffering from hypertension or tuberculosis must not take the treatment for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Also, they should inhale the steam through the mouth and nose, but should on no account expose the chest to the vapor.
